New York City's Chinatown is part of Manhattan, but it's also its own little universe. In a lot of ways it's more conservative and traditional than the rest of the city. So challenging gender expectations and standards of decency in that neighborhood was a special challenge for Aubrey and me. (My favorite detail about this shoot? When Aubrey was "waiting in line" for the Fung-Wah bus to Boston, the woman in front of her had luggage on which she'd written with chalk: "Stop Following Me!")
