I'm about to give up on traditional jobs. I swear. I can't keep a job for more than a year without the company going under. :'(

Having a missing job reference is a little different from a whole company going under u.u I'd just love steady income @BoldDaniel :P

Keep your head up. I just landed a permanent job today. I have been working for agencies for 7 years.

I know the feeling. I'm trapped at a part time job at a cemetery.

I have gone through most of my life with unsteady income. Though in truth, have my time be flexible has always been more important to me :)

...or a Pole Dancer - I`m sure you'd be very good at it - NOT an insult - a compliment actually - but it could lead to some "unsavory" experiences ;-)

I've had two jobs where because of bad economic times, I've been laid off. As bad as that is, there was some consolation knowing I didn't lose the job because of my incompetence. I know this sounds rather trite - but every time I've changed jobs, for whatever reason, my outlook is there is something better just waiting for me.

I agree with @WilliamTurneyMorris things do happen for a reason. Even though I worked for an agency my new jobs seen that as great experience. Things will move for you. Trust me. =)
